Amrita Centre for Entrepreneurship (ACE) felicitated the winners of the Innovative Project Contest 2K18 on 13th July, 2018. The Director of CIR, Prof. C. Parameswaran gave away the cash prizes and certificates to the winners as well as all the participants. Apart from congratulating the winning teams and motivating the participants of the contest, Prof. Parameswaran spoke about the upcoming ‘Cisco ThingQbator’ facilities and opportunities for budding entrepreneurs. His talk was followed by a short speech by Wng. Cdr. Dr. A. Balachandran, Dy. Director, CIR, who narrated an inspiring story of a team of Amrita students that had bagged the 1st prize in the Cisco Ideate contest by outperforming the IIT teams. He gave an overall outline about the Cisco ThingQbator set-up, process, equipment and activities. Then, member of the jury panel, Ms.R. Sunithakumari, Dy. Manager, L&D, CIR, spoke on the need to focus on innovative ideas with dedication, commitment and practicality while participating in such competitions.
Mr. R. Krishnan, Head – Entrepreneurship Development, ACE, CIR, gave a small summary about the Innovative Project Contest 2K18, which was basically organized for generating novel product-development / service-related ideas through student presentations made at two-levels. Totally 18 teams (20 Projects) applied in the first level presentation on 16th March, 2018. The jury members were Mr. N. Sridhar, Managing Partner, Innovatus Systems; Wng. Cdr Dr. A. Balachandran and Ms. R. Sunithakumari. They selected the top 10 teams on the basis of innovative ideas. The second level presentation was conducted on 5th April, 2018, in which 9 teams participated. The jury members were Mr. N.R. Mohanan, Advisor, Career Planning & Competency Development, CIR, along with Ms. R. Sunithakumari. They selected top three projects based on uniqueness of the project, technical details, market potential & profitability, fund position and timeline & resources to build and demonstrate a working model.
The top 3 winning projects were:
1st Prize (Rs. 5000/=): Reclined Electric Berth by Anumantharaja V & Team
2nd Prize (Rs. 3000/=): Beans Dehuller Machine by Shivaguru Prakash G & Team
3rd Prize (Rs. 2000/=): Solar Desalination by Akhilesh Ravindran & Team
The other 6 teams which presented in the 2nd level received consolation prizes (Rs. 500/= each) along with participation certificates.
