The CIR Department organized a five days program on Building Information Modeling (BIM) by Autodesk through ICTACT, in Amrita School of Engineering Coimbatore for the faculty of Civil Engineering Department. Nearly 40 faculty participated in the program of which six were from Amrita and the remaining was from the colleges in and around Coimbatore. The training was conducted by an Autodesk certified trainer using the Autodesk Revit 2015 BIM package. The trainer and the course content delivered were rated very high by all the participants. In this program the civil engineering aspects of BIM was covered with hands on using Revit. The faculty who were trained in this program will subsequently train students who have registered for the Autodesk certification program, enabling them to be certified BIM developer by the time they pass out of the institute.
Mr. Mohanan welcomed the guests and discussed how the digital wave is influencing construction industry and how a skill in BIM is going to help the students in future. Dr. Mini (Chairperson Civil) addressed the gathering highlighting the importance of acquiring new skills, which is also important for placement.
Attendance certificates were issued to all the participants at the conclusion of the program.
