On 25 Oct 2014, the TCS “Best Student Project Award” was presented in a brief function in the Amrita University Campus at Ettimadai, Coimbatore, by Mr Anand Kumar, Principal Consultant of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), who was also the Chief Guest on the occasion. This award was constituted by TCS, the largest IT/ITES service provider in the country, in the year 2006, for the best student project by the final year students of any branch of Engineering of Amrita University with relevance to Computer Science.
The project selected this year was in the area of cyber security, titled “Novel methods to preserve privacy of mobile devices”. The winners, Divya C, Harini S and Pradisa S, are all Engineering graduates in Computer Science and passed out this year from the University. The students, while receiving the award, spoke about the four fruitful years they spent here in the campus and dedicated this award to their parents, fellow classmates and above all to their guide, Asst Prof B A Sabarish, without whom they felt the project would have remained a dream.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Anand Kumar of TCS, highlighted the relevance of the project, especially in the context of “internet of things” and the need for privacy in an ever expanding world due to technology. He also appreciated the effort of the University to keep pace with the fast changing technological advances. Prof. Parameswaran, Director, Corporate and Industry Relations, spoke about the growing relation between TCS and Amrita University, over the years and thanked TCS for their whole hearted support.
